Marcelito Pomoy helps an elderly woman rebuild her house

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 8) – Amid the threat of COVID-19 pandemic in the country, singer Marcelito Pomoy chose to help those in need as a way of paying forward the blessings he received in the past year.

In his YouTube account, Pomoy narrated how he helped in rebuilding the house of Aurora Verano in just four days.

Pomoy said that he saw Aurora when he was distributing relief goods to residents in Quezon Province.

Itong pinakahuling bigay ko po, itong bahay po ni nanay na nakita ko, talagang walang wala si nanay,” said Pomoy in an interview with CNN Philippines’ Rico Hizon.

The 35-year old singer added he helped Aurora rebuild her house because he was reminded of his pre-showbiz life.

Doon ko po na-realize na kailangan kong tulungan itong taong ito dahil bilang ako, kasi wala rin akong nanay noon,” told Pomoy.

[Translation: I realized that I need to help this person because I also don’t have a mother before.]

Pomoy expressed his joy in the video upon seeing Aurora’s new home.

“Nanay Aurora can now sleep and rest well with her new home that we also furnish with everything she needs for her to have a comfortable life,” he added.

Pomoy and his wife Joan, who is a native of Calauag town in Quezon, are also active in distributing relief goods to their fellow residents.

He said that many residents lost their jobs due to the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.

[Translation: We know that many lost their jobs, most especially tricycle drivers and vendors. So, we initiated to give them relief goods so that they can eat well.]

Pomoy thanked those who helped them in the distribution of relief goods.

Iyon po ‘yung regalo na bigay sa akin ng Diyos ngayon, kaya sobrang pasasalamat ko sa Diyos dahil binigyan niya ako ng ganitong talent,” said Pomoy.

[Translation: I’m very thankful to God for giving me this talent.]

Pomoy rose to fame after his rendition of ‘The Prayer’ where he sang the parts of both Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli in the America’s Got Talent: The Champions Season 2. He finished fourth overall in the competition.

Previously, Pomoy joined the second season of Pilipinas Got Talent where he emerged as the grand winner of the contest.
