Malacañang places Albay, Zamboanga City under enhanced community quarantine until May 15

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 4) — Malacañang approved the inclusion of Albay and Zamboanga City under stricter quarantine rules until May 15.

The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases earlier approved the requests of the local governments of Albay and Zamboanga City to be placed under enhanced community quarantine amid the rising number of COVID-19 cases in their areas.

The enhanced community quarantine, which would require stay-at-home orders for most people and the suspension of public transportation among other rules that would restrict the movement of residents, will be in effect beginning midnight until 11:59 p.m. of May 15, 2020.

The local governments of La Union, Lanao del Norte, Isabela including Santiago City, Butuan and Camarines Sur have also asked the task force to be placed under an enhanced community quarantine.

Data from the Department of Health show that Albay recorded 35 cases of COVID-19, while Zamboanga City listed 42.
