
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 30) — The Department of Foreign Affairs on Thursday said it has recorded 33 new coronavirus infections among overseas Filipinos, as the tally of cases rose to 1,677.
It said the death toll climbed to 201 with two new fatalities reported. At least 451 have recovered and been discharged from the hospitals.
Meanwhile, 1,025 Filipinos abroad are undergoing treatment, the DFA added.
COVID-19 cases among overseas Filipinos have now spread across 46 countries or regions. Recent data from the World Health Organization showed that Europe and America — which are both home to most OFWs — rank the highest in regions with cases of the viral disease worldwide.
Globally, there are now over 3.1 million confirmed coronavirus cases, including 227,000 deaths.
