
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 22) – Thirty more Filipinos overseas have contracted COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases to 1,114.
The confirmed cases of infected Filipinos abroad were recorded in 42 countries, with the highest coming from the Asia Pacific region countries with 299. It was followed by countries from Europe with 374, the Americas with 279, and Middle East and Africa with 162.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said that 295 Filipinos overseas have recovered, while 159 have succumbed to the virus.
The DFA added that 660 overseas Filipinos are undergoing treatment.
According to the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center, there are now 2.57 million confirmed cases in 185 countries. The global death toll is now around 178,000 and the number of recoveries is nearing 700,000, the Center said.
