Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 16)— Four more police officers have contracted COVID-19, bringing the total number of infected personnel to 59, the Philippine National Police reported Thursday.
Three police personnel have died due to the infectious disease, PNP said in its statement,while the number of recoveries remains at eight.
PNP added there are now 61 probable COVID-19 cases in the ranks. A total of 512 personnel were meanwhile categorized as suspected cases.
Latest DOH records show the Philippines now has 5,453 cases of highly-contagious disease. Of this number, 353 have recovered, while 349 have died.
To contain the spread of the viral disease, authorities are urging people to practice regular hand washing, cover their mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing, and avoid close contact with those who exhibit virus symptoms.
