Telecom firms relax customer bill payment terms

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 15) — PLDT, Smart, and Globe have announced longer deadlines for bill payments to help ease the financial burden of their customers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

For postpaid subscribers of PLDT Home, Smart and Sun, a six-month installment payment program will be in place beginning May 1.

Customers can settle their unpaid balances as of April 30 in “six equal monthly payments with 0% interest and no penalties” under the program, PLDT said on its official Facebook page.

“We hope that through this payment program, we will keep you connected whether you are at home, the office or elsewhere after the enhanced community quarantine period. As one community, we will get through these challenging times together,” said PLDT Chairman and CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan.

Users may track their bills and payments through the myPLDT Smart App.

PLDT and Smart initially extended the payment period and suspended the disconnection of overdue accounts of all postpaid customers until April 30 after the extension of the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.

Meanwhile, Globe announced another 30-day extension for the payment of postpaid mobile and broadband bills.

“We have initially provided a 30-day extension which expires on April 15. In effect, we have given a 60-day credit extension or at least 2 months of unpaid bills,” Globe said on Facebook.

The Ayala-led firm said this also covers business and enterprise customers.

Globe users who wish to pay ahead of time may do so anytime through GlobeOne, Globe At Home and GCash apps.
