
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines) — Most supermarkets and other essential stores will be closed on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday (April 9-10, 2020), while limited store hours will be observed for the rest of Holy Week under enhanced quarantine.
The Holy Week for 2020 landed on April 6-12, which is also the fourth week of strict quarantine protocol in Luzon, as well as in other parts of the country, to contain the spread of COVID-19.
Here’s a list of schedules for the operations of supermarkets, food outlets, and convenience stores located inside malls for the week:
Ayala Malls
Select supermarkets and outlets located in Ayala properties will stay open even on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, upon the discretion of the merchants. The full list may be accessed here.
Gaisano Grand Malls
Select branches of the mall chain owned by the Gaisano family be closed on Maundy Thursday, followed by a total closure come Good Friday. All outlets will be back in business by Saturday.
Banks
Landers Superstore
Members of Landers Superstore can shop between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday, but all outlets in the country will be closed on Thursday and Friday.
Megaworld Lifestyle Malls
Closed on Thursday and Friday: Uptown Bonifacio, Arcovia City, Three Central Mall, Paseo Center Makati, Twin Lakes, The Clubhouse at Temple Drive
Select convenience stores and food takeout counters will be open on Thursday and Friday in the following locations: Eastwood City, McKinley Hill, McKinley West, Lucky Chinatown, Newport City, Forbes Town, Southwoods Mall, San Lorenzo Place Mall, California Garden Square, Festive Walk Iloilo
All essential establishments will resume operations on April 11, Black Saturday.
Metro Stores
Select establishments will be accepting customers on Thursday. All Metro stores will be closed on Good Friday, but will resume its usual store hours by Saturday.
Puregold

Robinsons
All Robinsons Supermarket and Robinsons Easymart outlets will be closed on Thursday and Friday, but will be open for the rest of the week.
The country’s biggest banks have also announced that their branches will be closed from Thursday until Sunday.
Rustan’s
All outlets of Rustan’s Suermarket and The Marketplace will be closed on Thursday and Friday, while varying store hours will be implemented for the rest of the week.
BDO, BPI, CitySavings Bank, Metrobank, PSBank, Robinsons Bank, and Security Bank are among those who said in public advisories that their branches will be closed, but transactions via ATM, online, and mobile banking channels will remain available.
Shopwise
Shopwise stores will also be closed on Thursday and Friday, but will follow the shortened operating hours for the enhanced quarantine for the remainder of the week.
Banks have implemented limited operations since Luzon went under enhanced community quarantine to prevent the spread of COVID-19. In a recent memorandum, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas said all banks and financial firms must “ensure uninterrupted financial services” for clients during the Holy Week. Cash levels in ATMs must also be monitored and regularly replenished, taking into account the release of government’s cash aid to 18 million families as well as private donations during the health crisis.
SM Supermalls
All malls will be closed on April 9, but groceries in select malls will be open on Friday. The list can be found here.
Regular hours under the enhanced quarantine period will be followed for Saturday to Sunday.
S&R Membership Shopping
All S&R branches will be closed on Thursday and Friday, but will be open to shoppers between 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Super8 Grocery
All outlets of the Super8 warehouse chain will be closed on Thursday and Friday. Schedules for its branches for the rest of Holy Week can be viewed here:
WalterMart Supermarket
All WalterMart stores will be closed on Thursday and Friday, but regular hours will be observed for the rest of the week.
Meanwhile, the Bankers Association of the Philippines said in a separate statement that it will take all necessary measures to combat COVID-19, and will sustain operations following the extension of the Luzon lockdown until April 30.
