Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 2) — The Quezon City Health Department confirmed 23 additional cases of COVID-19 in the city Wednesday, raising the total number to 174.
The city has recorded 27 fatalities, and 11 recoveries.
As of Wednesday, a total of 142 barangays have also been decontaminated in the city.
The country now has 2,311 cases of COVID-19 as the Department of Health also announced 227 new patients.
Quezon City is also partnering with Fe del Mundo Hospital, as it will be an exclusive hospital for COVID-19 effective April 6.
Eight more Filipinos have died from the new coronavirus disease in the country, raising the nationwide death toll to 96, the DOH reported Wednesday.
Around 80 percent of infected people experience “mild illness” and eventually recover from COVID-19, according to the World Health Organization. Some 15 percent experience severe illness while five percent become critically ill, the group said.
Authorities are constantly urging people to practice regular hand washing, cover their mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing, and avoid close contact with those who exhibit virus symptoms.
