
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 30) — Five more Filipinos abroad with COVID-19 have died, bringing the number of Filipinos who died of the viral disease to nine, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs.
The total number of Filipinos overseas who have contracted COVID-19 has risen to 348, with 228 of them still undergoing treatment, while 111 have recovered or have been discharged from hospitals.
Most of the infected Filipinos abroad are in the Asia-Pacific region, where 174 of the cases have been reported, including one death. Most deaths, however, have been reported in Europe with 97 cases.
Forty-eight Filipinos in the Middle East and Africa have COVID-19, with one death, while 29 Filipinos in the Americas have the disease.
Globally, the number of COVID-19 cases has reached over 724,000, with over 34,000 people dead because of the disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
