Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 28) — Another policeman, this time from Pasay City, has contracted the coronavirus disease, the Philippine National Police confirmed on Saturday.

The 35-year-old officer is the third PNP member who has been infected by the disease known as COVID-19 that has killed over 50 people in the country and has stricken more than 800.

The PNP also reported that one of its members listed as a person under monitoring for possible infection also died on Saturday.

There are over 1,300 police personnel that are on self-quarantine for possible infection, the PNP said in a statement.

Earlier, an officer from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group also caught and died due to COVID-19. A Manila-based patrolman also tested positive.
