Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 26)— Veteran actor Domingo “Menggie” Cobarrubias has died, his family confirmed Thursday. He was 68.
“Goodbye my love. Thank you for the 30 wonderful years,” his wife Gina wrote on a Facebook post, while thanking their loved ones for the support.
She, however, did not detail the cause of her husband’s death.
The award-winning actor has been a renowned presence in the entertainment industry— his works spanning the fields of cinema, television, and theater.
In 1980, Cobarrubias won the Gawad Urian Best Supporting Actor plum for his role in the film “Jaguar.” He also bagged the Best Actor award at the 2014 QCinema International Film Festival for the movie “Mauban: Ang Resiko.”
Cobarrubias’s colleagues in the industry poured out their heartfelt condolences upon hearing the news.
My heart aches.
Rest in peace Tito Menggie Cobarrubias.
You were always so generous and a joy to share the set with and learn from. ❤
