
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 12) — A fire broke out in a residential area in Parañaque City Thursday afternoon, affecting 300 families and leaving an estimated P1-million in damaged properties.
The fire, which was verified at around 3:45 p.m., quickly escalated into Task Force Alpha—the alarm level following the fifth alarm. Fire out was declared at around 7 p.m.
According to a spot report, the fire originated from the second floor bedroom area of one of the houses at Payatas St., Sta. Maria, El Dorado Dulo, Brgy. Don Bosco. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
The incident burned down a total of 70 houses and left two injured, including 44-year-old Michael Guliman, who suffered from smoke inhalation injury as well as a minor who sustained first degree burns.
In the Philippines, March—one of the hottest months—is observed as Fire Prevention Month.
