
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 8) — For the sixth consecutive year, June Mar Fajardo of the San Miguel Beermen was hailed as the Philippine Basketball Association’s Most Valuable Player.
The gentle giant from Cebu received the league’s highest individual recognition during the Leo Awards Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Fajardo was integral part of the Beermen’s two championship runs last season, including the five-peat in the Philippine Cup.
The San Miguel stalwart got a total score of 3,140 points from stats, media, players, and the league.
The Beermen, however, will defend their All-Filipino title without Fajardo who is recovering from a fracture injury on his right tibia (leg) which he sustained during team practice last month.
Meanwhile, CJ Perez of the Columbian Dyip was named Rookie of the Year.
