Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 26) – President Rodrigo Duterte has named National Bureau of Investigation Assistant Director for Intelligence Service Eric Bito-on Distor as the officer-in-charge of the agency.
In a press briefing on Tuesday, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo confirmed Distor’s new designation that took effect February 23.
This follows the mandatory retirement of NBI Director Dante Gierran, who turned 65 last week.
Panelo said Distor will head the agency temporarily while Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea finds a replacement.
Distor’s appointnment is “in compliance with the instruction of the President and in order to ensure the continuous and effective delivery of public service.”
