Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 25) — The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) will be introducing a 3×3 league in the upcoming season.

CNN Philippines Correspondent Pauline Verzosa contributed to this report.

The 12 PBA teams will participate, with two additional teams — Mighty Bond and Dunkin Donut — also set to join, according to plans revealed Tuesday.

“These 14 teams will be divided into two groups of seven. There will be a total of 42 elimination games and 14 playoff games per conference,” PBA Board vice chairman Bobby Rosales said in a press conference on the 45th PBA season.

The games will be held Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in between the scheduled doubleheader on those days.

Both the semifinals and finals will be a best-of-three affair.

According to Rosales, there will be no age limit and each squad will be comprised of four to six players with two Filipino-foreigners allowed to compete.
