Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 19) — The University of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroons have denied rumors that College of St. Benilde player Justin Gutang is transferring to Diliman.
“It has come to our attention that there has been news about De La Salle-College of St. Benilde’s Justin Gutang transferring to University of the Philippines to play for the Fighting Maroons,” UP team manager Atty. Agaton Uvero said in a statement released Wednesday.
“We would like to inform everyone and our supporters that UP Men’s Basketball Team Management, including Coach Bo Perasol, have had no direct communications at all with said athlete as to his plans to transfer to UP,” he said.
Gutang averaged 11.4 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 4.2 assists for CSB in NCAA Season 95, where they came short of landing a Final Four spot with a 9-9 win-loss slate.
