Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 16) — The MRT-3 was forced to temporarily stop trips between Ortigas and North Avenue stations due to a railway damage.
The MRT’s management said Sunday in a statement that it began implementing a provisional service between Taft Avenue and Shaw Boulevard stations at 8:17 a.m. due to a broken stretcher bar at North Avenue station.
Normal train operations resumed at 12:22 p.m.
The railway’s management said a team from Sumitomo Corporation, its technical partner Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and its Philippine subsidiary TES Philippines responded to the rail damage. The three companies are in charge of MRT’s rehabilitation.
The stretcher bar, which connects tongue rails, was replaced at 8:56 a.m., MRT’s management said.
