Another Bob Ong novel makes it to big screen

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 6) — Another one of Filipino author Bob Ong’s works will be adapted into big screen this year.

Ong’s first mystery/horror novel Ang Mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan (Mama Susan’s Friends) will become a movie adaptation starring Joshua Garcia. This will be a collaboration between Regal Entertainment and Black Sheep Productions.

The film will be directed by Chito S. Roño who is also known for directing other horror films like Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara, Feng Shui, Spirit Warriors, and two Shake, Rattle, and Roll movies.

Ang Mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan is about a college student named Gilberto or Galo, who describes in his journal entries how daily situations turn into scary ones.

Ong is known for his conversational and humorous writing technique.

The first book by Ong that had a film version was his autobiography ABNKKBSNPLAko?. The film was released in 2014 with Jericho Rosales playing the lead role.

In 2016, his satirical comedy novel Lumayo Ka Nga Sa Akin (Get Away From Me) was also turned into film.

Ong is actually a pseudonym of a Filipino author whose actual name and identity is still unknown.
