Amihan, LPAs trough to drench most parts of Philippines

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 6) – It will be rainy over most parts of the Philippines due to the trough of a low pressure area and the northeast monsoon, the state weather bureau said Thursday.

People over Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, and Davao Region will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms because of the LPA last seen 705 kilometers east of Davao City, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said in its 5 a.m. bulletin. Those who are in these areas may have to watch out for flash floods or landslides due to scattered moderate to at times heavy rains, PAGASA said.

PAGASA forecaster Lorie dela Cruz said in a Thursday briefing that there was a slim chance the LPA will develop into a storm.

The rest of central and southern Philippines will have generally fair weather, but isolated rains caused by localized thunderstorms are still possible, PAGASA added.

Meanwhile, cloudy skies with light rains will prevail over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Bicol Region, Aurora, and Quezon while partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains will be experienced over the rest of the northern Philippines due to amihan, the bureau said.
