(CNN Philippines, January 25) — The Philadelphia 76ers beat the Los Angeles Lakers, 108-91, on a night LeBron James achieved a personal milestone.
James moved past Kobe Bryant in the all-time scoring list with a layup in the third quarter. He finished the game with 29 points and now has 33,655 career points.
The 17-year NBA veteran is now the third leading scorer in league history. He only trails Karl Malone (36,928) and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,387).
The Lakers could not take care of the ball properly early in the game with James accounting for four of the Lakers’ nine turnovers in the first period.
They trailed by a dozen at the half and saw the Sixers pad the lead by as much as 22 in the third quarter. James recorded his personal feat with a driving layup in the 7:22 mark in that period with an assist from Anthony Davis.
The closest the Lakers could get was at 93-88 as Kentavious Caldwell-Pope hit back-to-back three-pointers. But the Sixers countered with a 13-0 run to put the game away for good.
Tobias Harris had 29 points for the Sixers. While, Ben Simmons flirted with a triple double registering 28 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists.
Philadelphia improved their record to 30-17 with the victory, while the Lakers absorbed their tenth loss in 46 games.
