Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 19) — Dennis Garcia, bassist and co-founder of the band Hotdog, has died, his daughter said Sunday.
“For those of you who knew my father, it grieves me to inform you all that he passed away tonight,” Isa Garcia wrote on Dennis’ Facebook account. “Our grief at his sudden passing is infinite and now so is he.”
His daughter did not mention his cause of death.
Editor’s note: An earlier version of this story used a photo of Dennis Garcia’s brother. We have replaced the photo. We apologize for this error.
Dennis’ passing came two years after his brother, Rene, who also co-founded the band.
Hotdog is known for pioneering “Manila Sound” in the 1970s, coming up with hits like “Bongga Ka ‘Day,” “Annie Batongbakal,” and “Manila,” which was used during the country’s hosting of the 30th Southeast Asian Games.
