Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 9) – Black Nazarene devotees got engaged during the celebration of the feast of the Black Nazarene on Thursday.
Devotee Kim Noel Yamat got a ‘yes’ from his girlfriend Mary Joie Flores after he asked for her hand in marriage amid the Traslacion or the old Catholic practice of transferring the venerated statue in a carriage from the Quirino Grandstand to its home in Quiapo Church in Manila, according to a post by the Manila’s Public Information Office.
The Manila PIO also shared some photos after the proposal.
Yamat was quoted as saying that he meant to ask Flores to marry him during Black Nazarene procession, since they were both devotees of the Black Nazarene icon, the post added.
Their wedding is set for March this year.
