On the other hand, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia also advised Filipino communities to stay vigilant.
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 7) —The United States Embassy (US) in Manila issued a security alert amid the tension between the US and Iran.
“There is heightened tension in the Middle East that may result in security risks to U.S. citizens abroad,” said the US Embassy in its website.
The United States and Iran have been exchanging threats since a U.S. drone strike in Iraq last week that killed a top Iranian military commander.
The embassy advised everyone to keep a low profile, be aware of their surroundings, stay alert in places frequented by tourists, review personal security plans, and have updated travel documents which are also easily accessible.
“The Embassy will continue to review the security situation and will provide additional information as needed,” it added.
“In view of recent developments in the region, Filipino communities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are advised to be vigilant against potential security threats, observe security measures and protocols established by the Saudi government, and abide by the laws, rules, and regulations of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,”
