Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, January 6) — A magnitude 5.4 earthquake hit Davao Oriental and rocked parts of southern Mindanao early Monday morning.
The quake of tectonic origin hit the municipality of Governor Generoso at 2:58 a.m., Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said. Intensity 4 was felt in the area.
Intensity 3 shaking was felt in Alabel and Malungon in Sarangani, while Intensity 2 was felt in Kiamba, Sarangani; General Santos City; and Tupi, South Cotabato. Intensity 1 was recorded in Koronadal City.
Phivolcs warned of aftershocks, but said no damages are expected.
