MMDA warns heavy traffic on SEA Games closing, asks motorists to avoid EDSA yellow lanes

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 10) — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Tuesday advised motorists to avoid the yellow lanes along EDSA as they will be used tomorrow by convoys going to the 30th Southeast Asian Games closing ceremonies in Capas, Tarlac.

MMDA warned of heavy traffic on EDSA and other major thoroughfares given that at least 114 buses and other vehicles with delegates on board will travel from Metro Manila to New Clark City Athletics Stadium.

“Convoy will use the yellow lane and inserts towards flyover, and tunnel/underpass while traveling along EDSA. Motorists are advised to avoid the yellow lane and give way to the convoy,” said MMDA in a statement.

It added that traffic personnel were already positioned in key areas in the metro to guide the motorists.

MMDA had implemented a stop-and-go traffic scheme on EDSA, Roxas Boulevard, Quezon Avenue, and other thoroughfares in Metro Manila since the sporting event opened on Nov. 30.
