Robredo explains choice to divulge drug war findings: Duterte won’t read them

“Pinapatapos ko lang iyong SEA Games. Iyong report, soon. Very soon. Hintayin lang natin matapos,” she said on Monday.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 2) — Vice President Leni Robredo said she decided to reveal her findings as former anti-drug czar because the information helpful to improve the drug war are left untouched on President Rodrigo Duterte’s desk.

“Ime-make public namin, kasi sayang naman kung nasa desk niya lang, hindi binabasa. So ime-make public para ma-consider iyong mga recommendations,” she said in her radio show on Sunday.

Robredo said she has sent two recommendations to Duterte in her two weeks as the co-chair of the Inter-agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs. She said she also submitted her third report, despite being fired by Duterte into her 19th day in office. But she said that according to Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo, the reports remain unread.

“Nag-decide kami, isa-submit pa din natin, pero isasapubliko natin iyong first, second, at saka third na reports, para lang sigurado na solid. Kasi sayang naman,” she said.

Duterte on November 28 dared Robredo to bare all information she may have gathered during her time as anti-drug czar.

Robredo said she will divulge it to the public after the SEA Games concludes on December 11.

She was fired from her post less than three weeks after Duterte appointed her. He said she was sacked for speaking with foreigners and asking for the scope of her powers.

“She made an a*****e of herself,” he said.
