Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 28) — President Rodrigo Duterte is daring Vice President Leni Robredo to bare all information she may have gathered during her time as anti-drug czar.
Speaking to reporters after an event in Malacañang Thursday, Duterte said, “You seem to be threatening na may information ka, ilabas mo.”
[Translation: You seem to be threatening that you have information, show it.]
Robredo was appointed co-chair of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD) but Duterte fired from her post less than three weeks later for, among other issues, speaking with foreigners and asking for the scope of her powers.
“She made an a*****e of herself,” the President told reporters, adding Robredo could have talked to local officials and law enforcement agencies instead of foreign organizations.
Duterte had previously lashed out at former Human Rights Watch deputy director for Asia Phelim Kine who suggested on Twitter to arrest him for “inciting and instigating mass murder.”
While the President did apologize to Robredo for believing Kine had been invited by Robredo, he again said he would “shoot” the rights advocate should he ever come to the country.
“Arestuhin mo ako? Hiyain mo ako ng ganon? Impyerno ang labas natin. Hiyain mo ako ng ganon? Eh, ano? This is not the first time na may pinatay ako ng aso,” he said
[Translation: You’ll arrest me? You’ll make a fool of me? We’ll both go to hell. You’ll make a fool of me? So what? This is not the first time I’ll kill a dog.]
A day after she was let go, Robredo revealed she would make her findings and recommendations public.
She added, “Kung sa tingin nila matatapos ito dito, hindi nila ako kilala. Nagsisimula pa lamang ako.”
[Translation: If they think that it will end here, they don’t know who I am. I’ve only just begun.]
In response, Malacañang said Robredo can do whatever she likes.
