Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 8) — More changes could be expected at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Civil Security Group (CSG) if malpractices and corruption persists within the ranks, as more than 40 rank and file personnel have been relieved.
The PNP-CSG has relieved two weeks ago 27 police officers including those from the Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO) and the Supervisory Office on Security and Investigation Agencies (SOSIA). The CSG regulates business operations of security agencies as well as licensing of firearms,
“Despite the first major revamp in CSG two weeks ago, reports still persist on corruption, delaying the processing of documents, collecting grease money, withholding of approved licenses, LTOs (license to operate), importation permits, etc.,” said CSG director PMGen Roberto Fajardo on Friday.
He noted that despite the first revamp, non-commissioned officers and non-uniformed personnel continue to just “lay low” and “business as usual” when they are transferred to other units.
Fajardo said that the corruption in CSG, FEO, and SOSIA must be stopped to further streamline government transactions in three days in compliance with the Ease of Doing Business Act.
He said that the problem in the unit is “systemic and deeply rooted.”
“I am determined and will continue to conduct revamp, this is just an initial action to correct the problem. So this only means that the public should expect more revamp to follow,” said Fajardo.
