Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 30) — Several local government units and schools have called off classes on Monday due to a scheduled nationwide transport strike.
Here is the list of class suspensions for September 30:

Transport groups have called for a nationwide strike to protest the government’s public utility vehicle modernization program. Stop and Go coalition called the program “anti-poor” given that jeepney drivers would have to purchase modern jeepneys worth more than ₱2 million to renew their franchises next year.
The strike will push through despite the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board’s appeal to cancel it, threatening to suspend or revoke the of operators who will join the protest.

Classes from elementary to high school in public schools are also suspended in Quezon City, not due to the transport strike, but in celebration of World Teachers Day. The city government is letting private schools and public colleges to decide for themselves whether to suspend classes due to the transport strike tomorrow.
