
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 26) — More areas have been placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal no. 1 as Tropical Depression Jenny intensified.
According to its 11 p.m. update, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the following areas are now under signal no. 1:
Cagayan
Isabela
Quirino
Nueva Vizcaya
Apayao
Abra
Kalinga
Mountain Province
Ifugao
Benguet
Ilocos Norte
Ilocos Sur
La Union
Pangasinan
Aurora
Nueva Ecija
Tarlac
northern portion of Zambales
northern portion of Quezon, including the Polillo Islands
Catanduanes
PAGASA said residents in these areas should take precautinaory measures against strong winds.
The weather bureau said Jenny may make landfall over the eastern coastline of Isabela-Aurora by Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning.
Meanwhile, moderate to heavy rains will affect the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Aurora, and Quezon.
Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon and Visayas, and the Zamboanga Peninsula will also experience light to moderate rain.
PAGASA said the storm is moving westward and was last spotted 530 kilometers (km) east of Virac, Catanduanes. It has maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.
Jenny is expected to leave the Philippine area of responsibility by Wednesday evening.
