
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 26) — Authorities are working to bring back to the Philippines the body of a Filipino who drowned in Canada.
A statement released by the Department of Foreign Affairs Monday said the Filipino, whose name has not been released, died in Lake Snye in Fort McMurray, Alberta, after saving a friend on August 23.
“The Consulate General is coordinating with Canadian authorities and his family in the Philippines for the repatriation of his remains,” the statement said.
Consul General to Calgary Zaldy Patron said that the Consulate General is monitoring developments and is ready to provide appropriate assistance.
“The Consulate General is coordinating with Canadian authorities and his family in the Philippines for the repatriation of his remains,” it said.
Authorities have not said when the repatriation will happen.
