Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 30) — Tai Bundit is still the head coach of the Ateneo Lady Eagles.
This is according to Ateneo de Manila University President Fr. Jett Villarin, SJ, who announced the news on his official Facebook account Monday evening.
In the post, Villarin admitted that there are internal team conflicts that will take time to be solved.
Villarin pleaded for everyone’s understanding as they try to resolve the issues and to refrain from speculating which could taint the names involved.
The Ateneo president also said that he will issue a formal statement when everything is settled.
Villarin’s statement came after reports that Bundit was let go as Ateneo’s women’s volleyball coach surfaced online.
Bundit steered the Lady Eagles to their only two championships in University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) women’s volleyball in Seasons 76 and 77.
The Thai mentor helped the Katipunan-based squad produce some of the country’s finest volleyball stars with three-time UAAP MVP Alyssa Valdez, two-time UAAP Best Libero Dennise Lazaro, and national team setter Jia Morado.
