Severe tropical storm ‘Quedan’ may exit PH by Oct. 28

Story updated to include PAGASA’s 11 a.m. advisory.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 27) — Severe Tropical Storm “Quedan” may exit Philippine territory by Saturday morning if it maintains its speed and trajectory, the state weather bureau said Friday.

In its 11 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Association (PAGASA) said Quedan is still moving north northwest towards the southern islands of Japan at 21 kilometers per hour (kph).

Quedan was last spotted at 795 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes, as of 10 a.m. Friday.

The storm has maintained strength, packing maximum sustained winds of 90 kph near the center and a gusts of up to 115 kph.

PAGASA said although Quedan has no direct effect on weather conditions in the country, it has made sea travel risky over the seaboards of Northern Luzon, the eastern seaboard of Central and Southern Luzon and the eastern seaboard of Visayas.
