Manila (CNN Philippines Life) — This weekend, listen to a dialogue with mothers, join an urban sketching tour, watch the debut production of a theater group, learn about freediving photography, enjoy a concert for children of all ages, and come as a villain or your favorite artwork for Halloween.

What’s In The Dark? by Theatre Titas

Theatre Titas, a group that stages, discusses, and shares live theater experiences, is presenting their debut production “What’s In the Dark?” from Oct. 27 to Oct. 29 at Green Sun Hotel. The production will consist of two original scripts: “Beheld,” a tale about a ‘wounded psyche’ of a man and “Carol,” a story that explores love and loss.

The former is written by Nicole Fuentes, author of “Keeping Her in the light,” and directed by Carl Cariño, Maria Montessori Children’s executive director, while the latter is written by Juan Diego Gil and directed by Tinette Villanueva Miciano.

“Beheld” will be starred by Epy Quizon (from “Heneral Luna,” among others), Natalia Abad (from “Shrek the Musical”), and Katie Bradshaw (from Montessori’s “Romeo and Juliet”), while “Carol” will include Edgar Alan Zeta-Yap (from University of Asia and the Pacific’s version of “The Lesson”), Javi Coromina (from UA&P’s adaptation of “The Importance of Being Earnest”), Sari Estrada (from “The Country Wife Egg”) and Liv Gonzales (from “Little Princess”).

The Sketchwalk Setup

Join an urban sketching tour of historical buildings in Escolta St., Manila on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The tour will be led by artists Mikee Atendido and Rocky Ola of Who Are Maro, a collaborative project that aims to offer services and various products to artists. The event fee is ₱300 and attendees are required to bring their own sketchpads. Meeting place will be at the First United Building, 413, Escolta St., Manila. A Mother’s Cry for Justice & Peace: A dialogue with mothers

Voices of Women for Justice and Peace, a newly formed Facebook community group, is holding an event on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 9 a.m. to noon, where mothers will share their worries and fears about living under the Duterte administration. The event will be held at the Bantayog ng mga Bayani Center, a memorial that honors people considered heroes and martyrs during Ferdinand Marcos’ martial rule. Freediving Photography & Editing Workshop

Freediving champion and professional photographer and filmmaker Martin Zapanta shoots photos underwater — without any breathing apparatus. On Sunday, Oct. 29, he will hold a five-hour workshop on underwater photography and hands-on post processing at Acceler8 Coworking, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Interested participants should have basic photography skills and are required to bring a laptop installed with Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 and Adobe Bridge CC 2017. The workshop fee is ₱1,000, and slots are available on a first come, first served basis. But participants can sign up by emailing Zapanta at martinzapanta.photographer@gmail.com.

Tricks & Musical Treats: A PPO Family Concert

On Sunday, Oct. 29, the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO), together with the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) celebrates Halloween through a special production for children of all ages. Featuring a nature camp setting, the concert follows the theme “Musical Adventures at Camp Harmonia, Meet Bloominia and the PPO Rangers.”

The performance includes a mix of Walt Disney themes, popular film music, classics, and Filipino folk songs, introducing children to elements of symphony orchestra and classical music appreciation — all within the backdrop of fun activities involving Filipino games (sipa and luksong tinik), an instrument petting zoo, and trick-or-treating.

Children are encouraged to come in their best hiking attire. Tickets are at ₱300 and ₱500. Discounts are available.
