Landslide near Samar school leaves two teens dead

Tacloban City (CNN Philippines, October 12) — Two teenage construction workers died in a landslide at a school campus in Lavezares, Northern Samar Wednesday.

Jonnel Nabor and Elmer Abayon, both 17 and residents of Barangay Kalabog, Victoria, were working at a construction site of Libas Elementary School when the incident happened.

Police said a portion of a hill in the same area collapsed and killed the victims at around 2 p.m..

Police and fire personnel and other workers conducted search and retrieval operations to recover Nabor and Abayon.
