Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 11) — Vice President Leni Robredo urged Filipinos to remember the war-torn city of Marawi and the plight of Muslim refugees in her message to Filipinos as they celebrate Eid’l Adha or the Feast of the Sacrifice.

Yakapin natin sila at patuloy na ipanalangin sa kanilang pagharap sa mga hamon ng buhay,” she said in a statement.

[Translation: Let us embrace them and continue to pray for their dreams amid the challenges in their lives.]

She said the celebration should remind Filipinos to transcend their personal lives and unite as one people despite differences in religion, color and background.

Patuloy nawa tayong pagbuklurin ng pagmamahal, pananampalataya, at pagbabayanihan,” the vice president said.

[Translation: Let us continue to unite in love, faith and patriotism.]
