Marilou Danley no longer a person of interest in Las Vegas massacre – police

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 3) — A woman, earlier reported to be a Filipino, was cleared of involvement in the Las Vegas Strip massacre, the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.

Marilou Danley is no longer considered to be a person of interest in the mass shooting, the Las Vegas police said in a statement on Tuesday (PHT).

“Marilou Danley is no longer being sought out as a person of interest,” the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) said. “LVMPD detectives have made contact with her and do not believe she is involved with the shooting on the strip.”

Authorities said she was not in the country when the mass shooting happened.

Philippines’ Foreign Affairs Department said they do not have confirmation if Danley is a Filipino.

“Our Consulate General is still trying to ascertain her nationality at this time,” Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Rob Bolivar said on Tuesday.

More than 20,000 country music fans scampered for cover Sunday night (Monday, PHT) as 64-year-old Stephen Paddock fired hundreds of bullets from a hotel on the Las Vegas Strip.

At least 59 were killed and 527 injured as the gunman unleashed a hailstorm of bullets from the 32nd floor of the nearby Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.

Police found 10 rifles inside Paddock’s hotel room. Paddock killed himself in the room, they added.
