
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 3) — Twelve people were reported dead after motorboats capsized in Western Visayas today due to strong waves.
Three boats capsized near the Parola Wharf, Iloilo at around noon Saturday.
Motorbancas Kheiza, Cheche and Jenny Vince capsized near the Farola Wharf, Iloilo at around noon Saturday. Cheche had 43 passengers and 4 crewmembers. Keizha had 4 crewmembers. Jenny Vince had 34 passengers and 3 crewmembers.
The Iloilo coast guard confirmed that 50 people have been rescued.
According to the Philippine Red Cross twelve people have been reported dead, while one passenger is still missing as of 7 p.m.
The Philippine Coast Guard earlier confirmed 7 deaths.
