Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, June 26) — Tropical depression ‘Dodong’ is set to exit the Philippines tonight.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Wednesday said that ‘Dodong’ is not expected to make landfall, and will exit the Philippines at around 7 to 9 p.m.
However, monsoon rains will continue to persist in the country Thursday, particularly in the areas of Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Western Visayas and will move upwards.
According to PAGASA, the southwest monsoon is characterized by warm, moist winds from the southwest that bring rains to the western areas of the country from May to September.
Dodong was last spotted 755 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes carrying maximum center winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of 60 kph. It is moving northeast at 30 kph. Its previous speed was 15 kph early Wednesday morning.
PAGASA said it is also monitoring a cloud cluster currently south of Mindanao that may develop into a low pressure area and enter the country this weekend.
