Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 20) — The Commission on Elections has set new “tentative” dates for the proclamation of the winners in the senatorial and party-list polls.
COMELEC Assistant Head Frances Arabe said the 12 winning senators may be proclaimed Tuesday evening while the party-list groups may be named by Wednesday “afternoon to evening.”
This, after the poll body, which serves as the National Board of Canvassers, suspended its session Monday evening, with two of 167 certificates of canvass remained untallied.
The remaining two COCs are overseas absentee voting results from Saudi Arabia and Washington D.C. in the United States. The NBOC said it will continue canvassing Tuesday, May 21, at 10 am.
The COMELEC earlier said the NBOC will proclaim the winning party-lists Tuesday morning and new senators in the afternoon.
Based on the latest partial and official tally, Cynthia Villar, Grace Poe, Go, Pia Cayetano, Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, Sonny Angara, Lito Lapid, Imee Marcos, Francis Tolentino, Koko Pimentel, Bong Revilla, and Nancy Binay are in the Top 12. Senator JV Ejercito trails in the 13th spot.
