Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 3) — There is no let up in the possibility of power interruptions in Luzon as the new alerts were announced Friday.

In a separate announcement, the NGCP said rotational brownouts may happen between 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. in parts of Ilocos Sur (serviced by ISECO) and Metro Manila (serviced by Meralco).

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said the yellow alert will be enforced in Luzon during the following times: 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., and 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

The red alert, meanwhile, will be raised at 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The NGCP says the available capacity is 11,054 megawatts (MW), and expects peak demand to be at 11,046 MW.

The agency has not yet announced the cause behind the warnings, but said the Department of Energy would give updates within the day.

However, the agency said the sheduled interruptions may be canceled if situations improve.

“NGCP encourages everyone to exercise prudence in using electricity,” said the statement.
