Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 28) — The Magnolia Hotshots needed five extra minutes to beat the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in Game 7 of the PBA Philippine Cup semifinals.
The Hotshots outlasted the Elasto Painters in overtime, 63-60, Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Ian Sangalang and Paul Lee each had 11 points, but it was Rafi Reavis’ eight points and 20 rebounds that made the difference for Magnolia.
Rain or Shine waxed hot from beyond the arc in the third period and led by as much as 17 points.
However, the Hotshots’ grit and determination helped them erase the deficit and forced extra time.
It was Magnolia’s composure that propelled the squad to another trip to the All-Filipino conference finals.
The Hotshots will face the defending champions San Miguel Beermen in a best-of-seven finals series starting on May 1 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
