Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 17) — A lunar phenomena is expected to rise at the end of this week.

According to Old Farmer’s Almanac, the oldest almanac in North America, April’s full moon called “Pink Moon” will glow up in the night sky on Good Friday, April 19.

It will peak at 7:12 p.m., Philippine time, and will be seen around the world, the almanac said.

“For the best view, watch for the Moon on the night of the 18th, when it will be at near-peak fullness and shine bright in the sky,” the Old Farmer’s Almanac article published on April 10 said.

Reports, however, said the full moon will not appear pink as its name suggests.

The Old Farmer’s Almanac said the Pink Moon was only called such by native Americans who gave distinctive names to every month’s full moons.

The one that will shine this Friday was named after spring flower “moss pink.” Other names for it are “Sprouting Grass Moon,” “Egg Moon,” and “Fish Moon,” according to the almanac.
