
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, March 29) Local candidates vying for seats in the May elections began to campaign in their areas on Friday.

Former Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim is again running for the top seat in the nation’s capital as he began his campaign at the Sto. Niño de Tondo Parish.
Lim shrugged off concerns about his age and how he may not have the skills to run Manila with 1.2 million voters, backing this up with his stint as Manila mayor.
He is running against incumbent Mayor Joseph Estrada and former Vice Mayor Isko Moreno.
10 QC mayoral candidates
Meanwhile, Quezon City voters will choose among 10 candidates vying for mayor and seven for vice mayor.
The tandem of Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte and Councilor Gian Sotto is seen as the team to beat. They are running for mayor and vice mayor, respectively.
They began their campaign at a mass at the Santo Domingo Church which was attended by their parents, Senate President Tito Sotto and former Speaker Sonny Belmonte.
Among those running against the younger Belmomnte and Sotto are Representative Bingbong Crisologo and lawyer Jopet Sison of the administration PDP-Laban.
Cayetanos vying for Taguig seats
Over in Taguig City, three candidates from the same family are looking to win seats.
Former Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano and his wife, incumbent Mayor Lani Cayetano, are both running for representatives for the two districts.
They are up against Allan Cerafica and Che Che Gonzales in the first and second districts, respectively.
Meawhile, Lino Cayetano, the brother of the former Foreign Affairs secretary, is gunning for the mayoral post against Taguig 1st District Rep. Arnel Cerafica.
Guiani, Sema for Cotabato City mayor
Down South, two Moro women are running against each other for mayor of Cotabato City.
Incumbent Mayor Cynthia Guiani and Representatives Bai Sandra Sema are both from prominent families.
The families took opposite sides on the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL).
Sema campaigned for the inclusion of Cotabato City in the new Muslim autonomous government, while Guiani was against it.
Comelec: Don’t forget campaign rules
Meanwhile, James Jimenez, spokesperson of the Commission on Elections, reminded candidates what they should do during the campaign.
Speaking to CNN Philippines Friday, Jimenez said candidates should remember to put up posters only in designated common areas, and be mindful of the size limits.
Jimenez added candidates as well as private citizens should be mindful of rules when it comes to pushing campaign materials on social media.<<LINK: >>
