WATCH: Miss Universe 2013 returns to PH for charity work, showbiz career

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, February 1) — Miss Universe 2013 Gabriela Isler is back in the Philippines after five years to help a Palawan community get access to education and to explore possible opportunities in showbiz.

“My mission here is bring back joy and maybe support for this community and say to the world that they still need support, they still need help,” Isler told CNN Philippines’ The Source on Friday.

Isler eyes partnering with universities to hopefully provide scholarships for Tagbanwa children in Coron, Palawan, which she first visited after she won the Miss Universe crown following the onslaught of Supertyphoon Yolanda.

“This community does not want the kids and the youth to just stay in the island weaving and fishing,” the Venezuelan beauty queen said. “They want the kids to have opportunities in the outside world.”

Isler is also working with Catholic aid organization CordAid and is supporting Sékéd, a pandan weaving initiative, which provides Tagbanwa people with livelihood.

She is also eyeing to enter showbiz in the Philippines and possibly star in an international TV series.

“I love the TV, I love to talk, as you realize,” Isler said.
