LOOK: PHLPost releases Year of the Dog stamps to welcome 2018

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 31) — It’s the year of the Dog this 2018, and those who love to write letters will be pleased to see furry friends on stamps.

The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) has released Year of the Dog special stamps, to welcome the new year.

Designed by in-house graphic artist Rodine C. Teodoro, the 101,000 stamps are now available at the Central Post Office and other post offices nationwide. The stamps have two designs, sold at ₱12 and ₱45 each per design.

In a statement, PHLPost said it has printed 6,000 copies of the limited edition souvenir sheets — red and gold for prosperity — for stamp collectors, at ₱200 per sheet.

“The dog is the symbol of loyalty, honesty and possesses the best traits of human nature. People born under this sign are honest, friendly, loyal, smart, straight forward and venerable and have a strong sense of responsibility,” their statement read.

The dog is the 11th animal in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac.
