
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 12) — Officials have announced class suspension for Thursday, December 14 as tropical depression Urduja heads for the Bicol region.
Here is a list of class suspensions for Thursday, December 14:
Albay – pre-school to elementary levels
Biliran – all levels
Camarines Sur – all levels
Ormoc City – elementary
Sorsogon – pre-school to elementary levels
Leyte – all levels, government offices
Southern Leyte – all levels, government offices
Eastern Samar – elementary to high school
Meanwhile, the state weather bureau has raised tropical cyclone signal no. 1, which means pre-school and kindergarten classes are automatically suspended, in the following provinces:
Catanduanes
Albay
Sorsogon
Masbate
Eastern Samar
Northern Samar
Samar
Biliran
Leyte
Southern Leyte
Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Urduja is expected to make landfall in the Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas on Saturday, after which it is expected to cross Southern Luzon over the weekend.
The weather bureau said by Thursday, Urduja may intensify into a tropical storm, with maximum sustained winds 62 to 88 kph.
PAGASA also warned fisherfolk and those with small seacraft not to venture over the eastern seaboard of Bicol, Eastern Visayas, and the Caraga region.
It said moderate to rough seas may occur as Urduja approaches.
