Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 19) — The Philippines’ bet for the much-awaited 66th Miss Universe pageant revealed her national costume during the preliminaries in Las Vegas, Saturday.
Miss Universe-Philippines Rachel Peters posted a photo of her Sarimanok-inspired golden dress—complete with wings and a headpiece—on her Instagram account.
“A modern twist of the legendary Sarimanok. A symbol of good fortune for the Maranao people,” Peters said in her post.
Fashion designer Val Taguba created Peters’ costume, while Jojo Bragais designed her gladiator-style boots.
Peters is one of the 93 ladies competing in Miss Universe 2017 to be held on November 26. The pageant will be held at The AXIS at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States.
