Zamboanga Sibugay (CNN Philippines, August 23) — Four people died in a landslide in Zamboanga Sibugay due to continuous rains.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC), the landslide happened at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug 22, in Brgy. Penaranda, Kabalasan, Zamboanga Sibugay.
The landslide hit a shanty, leaving four people dead. Authorities identified them as:
Sannylito Tuquib, 21
Jeffrey Lamparas, 18
Danilo Balicoco, 20
Adrian Ledesma, 30
Three others survived the incident.
The military, barangay officials from Tigbangagan and Penaranda, response teams from Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council Kabalasan, and PDRRMC Zamboanga conducted search, rescue, and retrieval operations.
