Malate Moderne: A 1930’s Art Deco Architecture Walk (August 24, Thursday)
Travel back in time to the 1930’s. Happening in conjunction with Artkitektura Festival of Architecture and the Arts is “Malate Moderne: A 1930’s Art Deco Architecture Walk.” Explore “Manila’s original bohemian enclave” and get a history lesson on Deco-style homes and apartments, hidden chapels, a jewel-box theater, and Manila’s only Art Deco-style sports complex.

Artkitektura: Festival of Architecture and the Arts (August 24, Thursday)
Artkitektura, a festival of architecture and the arts, begins on Aug. 24, Thursday, and runs until Aug. 27, Sunday. Presented by the Ayala Museum and Citydesigner UK, in cooperation with Architecture Steiner UK and Iona Stichting NL, Artkitektura celebrates “holistic approaches to architecture and the built environment.”
Kicking off Artkitektura’s world tour is the Living Architecture exhibition curated by Pieter van der Ree. Themes that will be explored throughout the festival are “Wholeness through Architecture and the Arts,” through exhibits, talks, workshops, artistic presentations, and study trips. Four solo exhibits are opening at West Gallery on Aug. 24, Thursday, 6 p.m. New work by Geraldine Javier (“Beginnings and Endings”), Ayka Go (“A Drawing a Day”), Isabel Santos (“Should I Remember You?”), and Carina Santos (“Orbiting the Last Known Surroundings”) will be on view until Sept. 16. Miles Villanueva’s “Both the Arsonist and the Fireman,” Don Djerassi Dalmacio’s “Neon Stealth,” and “A Collage Show” at Underground Gallery (August 26, Saturday)
Opening on Saturday, Aug. 26, 6 p.m. at Underground Gallery are two solo shows — “Both the Arsonist and the Fireman” by Miles Villanueva and “Neon Stealth” by Don Djerassi Dalmacio — and one group show on collage. The group show is curated by Nilo Ilarde and features work by Juan Alcazaren, Jan Balquin, Buboy Cañafranca, Neil dela Cruz, Beejay Esber, Dina Gadia, Jacob Lindo, Poch Naval, Michelle Pérez, Juni Salvador, Arturo Sanchez, Jr., Carina Santos, Yasmin Sison, Jel Suarez, Gerardo Tan, Oca Villamiel, and Atsuko Yamagata.

“Gentlemen Take Polaroids” (August 26, Saturday)
ARTERY Art Space presents “Gentlemen Take Polaroids,” a group show featuring new work by Allan Balisi, Lec Cruz, Luis Antonio Santos, and Costantino Zicarelli. The show opens on Aug. 26, Saturday, 6 p.m. and runs until Sept. 16.
